PROGRAMME INFORMATION
CITS Program is a joint venture programme of the school management, PIBG and CHILD. We engage the pupils at regular intervals with programs that assist them with self-development, motivation, language and communication and academic skills, education excursions, multi-cultural adaptation and character and leadership skills. These positively contribute to the evolution of a progressive study culture in the students. It also provides the school leadership and teaching fraternity the opportunity to re-examine their approach and self evolve innovative leadership, management and teaching skills to suite the special needs of the students.
It also provides the PIBG and parents the opportunity to be effective partners with the teaching fraternity of the schools in their children’s scholastic achievements.
CITS program attracts minimal logistics and cost. Notwithstanding the deficiencies, we have a ‘ready made’ Tamil school system with a functional complement of physical infrastructure, trained teachers, teacher training schools, curriculum and educational equipment and software that the Government takes responsibility for. We can add value to the existing system through CITS and lift Tamil school performance to a higher dimension. CITS makes the existing Tamil school teaching exercise receptive and responsive in the Tamil students’ special needs.
The impressive academic achievements over the years among several hundred children in several schools provides sufficient evidence that CITS programme is an effective tool to improve the educational achievements and bring about a progressive educational culture among Tamil school children trapped in the “education ghettos” of the community. The program recognizes the children’s inherent potential, strengthens their scholastic foundation, helps to optimize the available educational opportunities and most importantly, gives them confidence and motivates them to a progressive study culture of self directed learning to advance their scholastic careers. A commensurate strong performance at the primary level lays the foundation to carry them through their continuing years at secondary and tertiary levels. CITS also highlights that education is a community venture and a strong partnership between the parents, school and the community is imperative for its success.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To improve the academic performances of the children adopted from Tamil schools by achieving a consistent pass rate of 70% and bring them on par with the national type schools within a period of 6 years.
CITS commences by forging a strong tripartite partnership between the parents, school and community to create a strong ‘school community’ that will take an abiding interest in the affairs of the school, its pupils and the teachers and take pride in its overall performance.
